Jewish involvement in media, politics, etc.

Last week we began to answer the question about how Jewish involvement in the media, politics and the intelligence agencies have been seen by some as some sort of "zionist" plot to "take over the world" . The success of the Jewish people has less to do with their efforts and more to do with a covenantal blessing on cAbraham, Isaac and Jacob and their children. Continuing in that thought, this blessing has been recognized by others for centuries.

In Esther 6.13,Haman is warned by his wife, "Since Mordechai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of the seed of the Jews you will not overcome him, but will surely fall before him." Mark Twain wrote an essay in 1899 called "Concerning the Jews" and said: "If the statistics are right, the Jews constitute but one percent of the human race. It suggest a nebulous dim puff of star dust in the blaze of the Milky Way. Properly, the Jews ought hardly to be heard of: but he is heard of, has always been heard of. He is as prominent on the planet as any other people, and his commercial importance is extravagantly out of proportion to the smallness of his bulk.

His contributions to the world's list of great names in literature, science, art, music, finance, medicine and abtruse learning are also way out of proportion to the wekness of his numbers. He has made a marvelous fight in this world, in all the ages: and has done it with his hands tied behind him. He could be vain of himself, and be excused for it. The Egyptian, the Babylonians and the Persian rose, filled the planet with sound and splendour, then faded to dream-stuff and passed away; the Greek and the Roman followed, and made a vast noise, and they are gone; other peoples have sprung up and held their torch high for a time, but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now, or have vanished. The Jew saw them all, beat them all, and is now what he always was, exhibiting no decadence, no infirmities of age, no weakening of his parts, no slowing of his energies, no dulling of his alert and aggressive mind.

All things are mortal but the Jew;all other forces pass, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality?" Well, if Mark Twain was here I would tell him the same thing. The secret is the blessing of G-d (Gen 12.1-3, Deut 28.1-14) and the mercy of G-d (Lev 26.44-45) and not due to any virtue of our own. So, rst assure that there is no "Jewish plot" to take over the world, but people have recognized for 4000 years that a blessing rests on Abraham's children and the for the most part the world has been the better for it.
